About Wonthaggi
Wonthaggi is about 140 kilometres south east of Melbourne. The town grew from the State Coal Mine, which the Victorian Government opened in 1909 after a long strike on the New South Wales coalfields left Victoria short of coal. The mine operated until 1968, and parts of the site are now on the Victorian Heritage Register. The government laid out a model township in 1910, and by 1921 Wonthaggi had more than 5,000 residents.
Today Wonthaggi is one of the main towns in Bass Coast Shire, with shops, services and schools used by people from Inverloch, Cape Paterson, Kilcunda and the farms in between. That makes it a practical place to fit a massage around other errands, and a central starting point for a therapist travelling to the coast.

Studio or visit
Some therapists work from a fixed room and some travel to homes or holiday accommodation. When you enquire, say whether you can travel and how far, or whether you are asking about a visit. If you want a visit, give the part of town or the nearest street corner at first. The therapist can ask for your full address once a time is agreed.
Before you book
Your health matters to what the therapist can offer, so include anything relevant when you write in. The visitor guide has a checklist that applies to residents too. For a new or worsening injury, a physiotherapist is the better first stop.
Rebate eligibility is explained on the about page.
